Winter wedding at Canyonwood Ridge
Lush foliages, warm candles and a bride wearing a blush wedding gown, equal perfect elements for a winter wedding. Although, this day was a rainy, drizzly day, seeing all these warm smiles you would never know that was the case. With the chapel at Canyonwood Ridge as the backdrop ( it was always the choice), followed by a festive reception in the ballroom. Selecting a venue with a great A or B plan helps keep a peace of mind during the planning process. Lush, cascading foliages on the existing chandeliers and added at the ceremony table helped bring the outdoors in- candles and greenery were the brides main focus with florals added to the most important places.
The luxurious cascading foliage is “southern smilax”, it is foraged from tree canopies and most recently has become a favorite amongst floral designers for the lush coverage it provides. And yes, it does have a season, mostly available July through early April, depending upon spring weather conditions it can be available during May. In my professional opinion, I do not think there is a great substitution for its particular qualities, there are many, many other foliages available , but this one has some particular qualities that has skyrocketed its popularity- size/color/fullness/ length! Although it is greenery and it is “affordable”, it is the installation of it that sometimes surprises brides and grooms ( and their families). This particular chapel requires an oversized ladder to even get to the light fixtures and then the designer to do their magic. A professional floral designer will help make your wedding designs come true as we execute your ideas into reality!
