Modern black and white wedding at Matties, Austin, Texas.

This fall wedding has some of our favorite details of the season.  The venue was the one and only Mattie’s in Austin, Texas ( it was formerly known as Green Pastures.) It is a venue steeped in tradition, it is one of Austin’s crown jewels. It underwent a renovation about 2 years ago.  They added both an outdoor tent and upgraded the porch area, but the peacocks are still here.  Matties, it is the perfect place to host a modern Austin wedding!

It is quickly becoming one of our favorite venues again.   We have designed many weddings at this property and love that it is back!!

The ceremony.

The ceremony was on the front steps of the main building.  We created a magnificent baby’s breath aisle with a custom runner for the bride and wedding party to enter. The bride arrived in a vintage car and was escorted up the aisle by her father. The ceremony space itself was flanked by an asymmetrical baby’s breath arbor and the doors featured baby’s breath wreaths. The bride loved baby’s breath.  We love this design technique of using it in great quantities as the feature flower.

The reception.

The reception included both indoor and outdoor spaces.  The tent was set with a combination of comfortable lounge settings and is draped with fabric and magnolia garlands.  The porch had a few console type cocktail tables and also showcased the cake.  Inside the sunroom, guests’ tables were set for dinner along with the band and dancing.   At the end of the evening, the bride and groom exited the main entrance through a shower of rose petals.

The flowers.

The bride loved baby’s breath.  The bridesmaids carried it in bundles, the ceremony had an extravagant aisle and arbor and the crystal candelabras featured it in garlands.   Also included were anemones and magnolia foliage, both on the bride’s must-have lists. The peacock feather on the groom’s boutonniere was paying respect to the peacocks on the grounds of the venue.
