The Driskill – Classic wedding reception
A Timeless Wedding at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with a Classic Reception at The Driskill
This spring, we had the honor of designing florals for a wedding that was the epitome of timeless elegance. The ceremony took place at the historic St. Mary’s Catholic Church, a stunning backdrop with intricate architecture and sacred charm. Following the vows, guests were transported to one of Austin’s most iconic venues for a classic reception at The Driskill, where green and white florals set the tone for an evening of sophistication and romance.
Green and White: A Refined Palette
The floral design centered around a crisp green and white color palette — a trend that continues to dominate 2025 wedding aesthetics. We curated a selection of lush hydrangeas, white garden roses, amaranthus , and velvety Italian pittosporum to create layers of texture and movement. But the true standout? Calla lilies. Their sculptural elegance and clean lines added a contemporary edge to the arrangements, from altar installations to all the bouquets.
The Driskill: A Classic Reception with Modern Details
Walking into the Mezzanine at The Driskill, guests were greeted by an enchanting mix of old-world grandeur and modern floral trends. Tables were draped in a mix of simple classic ivory mixed with printed linens — soft botanical patterns in ivory and sage that perfectly echoed the garden-inspired arrangements. Each table was dressed in a combination of flowers and mixed sizes of candles.
Delicate velvet bows adorned the napkins, and floral accents were tucked into every corner — from the escort card display to the piano. The overall effect? A classic reception at The Driskill that felt fresh, personal, and deeply romantic.
Why These Trends Work
This wedding beautifully showcased three design elements we’re seeing more of in 2025:
-
Calla Lilies: Sleek and modern, they bring a sculptural element to traditional floral palettes.
-
Bows: From chair backs to bouquet wraps, bows are making a strong comeback with an emphasis on luxurious textiles like velvet and silk.
-
Printed Linens: No longer an afterthought, linens now play a starring role in reception design, adding layers of pattern and texture that elevate the tablescape.
Final Thoughts
If you’re dreaming of a timeless wedding with modern floral touches, take inspiration from this unforgettable day at St. Mary’s and The Driskill. A green and white palette, artfully styled calla lilies, and thoughtful details like printed linens and velvet bows can create an atmosphere that feels both classic and current.
